Choosing a Tirzepatide Vial Size: 5 mg to 120 mg

How to pick among eleven tirzepatide vial sizes: stock concentration, how quickly the solution will be used, acetate content, and cost per milligram.

Tirzepatide is supplied in eleven vial sizes from 5 mg to 120 mg, in packs of ten vials from one lot. Every size has the same purity specification and the same lyophilized form under nitrogen; only the amount per vial differs. The choice comes down to stock concentration, how quickly you will use the reconstituted solution, and cost per milligram.

Table of tirzepatide stock concentration in mg/mL for vial sizes from 5 mg to 120 mg dissolved in 1, 2, 5, 10 or 20 mL of solvent, with the 5 to 10 mg/mL range highlighted
Tirzepatide stock concentration = vial milligrams divided by solvent millilitres. Green cells fall in the 5 to 10 mg/mL range typical for most protocols.

Work out the stock concentration first

Concentration equals the milligrams in the vial divided by the millilitres of solvent. A 10 mg vial in 2 mL gives 5 mg/mL, a 60 mg vial in 6 mL gives 10 mg/mL, and a 100 mg vial in 10 mL gives 10 mg/mL. Reconstitution is typically at 5 to 10 mg/mL in sterile water, depending on the protocol.

Confirm that the vial can hold the volume you intend to add. For the largest sizes, staying in the 5 to 10 mg/mL range needs a correspondingly large solvent volume.

Account for the acetate content

Tirzepatide is supplied with an acetate counterion, and the acetate content is reflected on the certificate of analysis. If your protocol calls for an exact amount of the peptide itself, adjust the mass for effective peptide content using the COA, rather than assuming the labelled milligrams are all peptide.

Match the vial to how fast you will use it

A reconstituted vial is a perishable stock. A few assays spread over a long period fit a 5 mg to 20 mg vial and leave little unused solution; many replicates or arms in a short period fit a 50 mg to 120 mg vial, because a single reconstitution serves the whole run. Single-use aliquots extend what you can use, but avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles and follow the stability data for your own buffer.

Cost per milligram

Larger vials cost less per milligram, and the 120 mg vial is the lowest-cost way to buy tirzepatide by the milligram. The saving only matters if the solution will be used within a suitable stability window; otherwise a smaller vial wastes less.

One lot across a study, and blends

Ten vials from one lot lets you use the same lot across every arm of a study, which removes lot-to-lot variability as a confounder; if you need fewer than ten vials, email us to arrange a smaller order at the same per-vial price. Pre-mixed blends are also available for protocols that use two compounds together: tirzepatide with cagrilintide (10 mg and 20 mg vials) and a 1:1 retatrutide + tirzepatide blend (60 mg per vial). Tirzepatide is for laboratory research use only; nothing here is medical advice.
