How to pick among seven semaglutide vial sizes: reconstitution at 1 to 3 mg/mL, the roughly eight-week refrigerated window, and cost per milligram.
Semaglutide is supplied in seven vial sizes from 5 mg to 50 mg, in packs of ten vials from one lot, as a sterile-filtered lyophilized powder sealed under nitrogen. Every size has the same specification; the difference is how much peptide is in each vial. Because semaglutide is usually reconstituted at lower concentrations than the newer incretin analogs, the solvent volume matters more here.
Concentration and solvent volume
Most in-vitro protocols reconstitute semaglutide at 1 to 3 mg/mL in sterile bacteriostatic water. Concentration equals the milligrams in the vial divided by the millilitres of solvent: a 10 mg vial in 5 mL gives 2 mg/mL, a 30 mg vial in 10 mL gives 3 mg/mL, and a 50 mg vial in 25 mL gives 2 mg/mL.
That means larger vials need a large solvent volume to stay in range. Confirm the vial can hold it before you add solvent; if it cannot, a smaller vial is the practical choice.
The refrigerated window sets the vial size
Reconstituted semaglutide is typically stable for up to about eight weeks under refrigeration. If you will use the solution over a few weeks, a 5 mg to 20 mg vial fits and leaves little to discard. If a programme runs many replicates in a short period, a 30 mg or 50 mg vial serves the whole run from one reconstitution. Aliquot into single-use portions and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Cost per milligram
Larger vials cost less per milligram, and the 50 mg vial is the lowest-cost way to buy semaglutide by the milligram. The saving is real only if the solution is used inside its stability window.
